One of my new favorite things
About a week or so ago, Chris took a tour of Montenegro with Vladimir and Leonid. Leonid was visiting from the states, he was working in Russia, but his children were deemed dangerous and they were not able to return. Along the way, they passed by this large smokehouse. There were about 8,000 hams curing in this smoke house. We are now the proud owners of a have of a cured ham -- know as Prushut here. It is very tastey, smokey and salty. Probably not the most healthy thing to eat, but delicious!!!
We have three years to finish eating it! I don't think it will last that long. If it had not been cut in half, we could have stored it for 5 years and then began eating it, but since it is cut (Leonid took the other half), we have to finish it in 3 years.

Jill, is Prushut the same as prochuttio? From your description it looks like it is, a cured saltier ham. Its really good cooked in the mornings with eggs.
YUM! one of my favorite foods from that part of the world. Slap a few slices on bread with cheese and I'm good! Proscuitto is originally from the Parma area of Tuscany. Side by side, I cannot tell the difference.
Hey Felix, It is the same thing as prochuttio! Very expensive and very good!
