Thanksgiving
Here is our 31 pound turkey! It was VERY fresh and still warm when Chris brought it home.
The hunt for the turkey began several weeks ago. While we were walking in our neighborhood, we spotted some turkeys in someone's back yard. So, Chris, being the hunter that he is, goes and asks the owner if we could buy a turkey from her. Of course, we had no idea how to say "turkey" in Montenegrin, so we pantomimed and made sound like a turkey. After a few chuckles and learning the word for turkey, "churka" she declined and said that they were only for her family, but we could find one at a local butcher shop. No luck at the butcher shopes. We then spoke to our land lord, who solves all problems that we have. He had a friend, who had a friend, (it's all about the relationships here) that raised turkeys in a near by town. After a few phone calls, we had our turkey -- thinking that it would be about 20 pounds. On Thanksgiving Eve, Chris and our landlord make the trip to Danilovgrad to get the turkey.
Thankfully, the turkey fit into our oven -- just barely -- the leg touched the top of the oven!
