Christian's Birthday

On May 12, 1997 Christian was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. Actually it was just down the street in Henderson (of course). This is a joke that all Las Vegans will imediately appreciate.

The doctors perscribed 100% bed rest to Jill the final four months of her pregrancy. Jill says it turned out to be a blessing. The past nine years have given her no rest whatsoever (ha, ha). As it turns out, two weeks before the due date, the doctors were amazed that she had not yet given birth. After four months preventing premature labor, the induced labor on Monday morning, the day after Mother's Day. What a joy that day was!

Nine years later he still brings us joy and amazes us. He has learned Russian and everyone reminds us of how well he speaks without an accent. They continue to ask, "why don't you speak Russian like your son?" We just smile and praise the Lord for our very smart and gifted boy.

Today he is celebrating with his classmates in the city of Yaroslavl. This city was established nearly 1000 years ago and has a large fort, called a kreml, or kremlin, located near the Volga river. Today he toured the kreml and went ice skating at the indoor arena where the Yaroslavl locamotives play. Most importantly, according to Christian, "we went to McDonald's for dinner."
