Petar I Petrovich - Njegosh
Petar I Petrovich Njegosh lived from 1747 until 1830. He was the ruler of Montenegro, the cetinje Episcop of the Orthodox Church and the Claim-holder of the Serb Orthodox throne. He was and is by far the most popular spiritual and military leader of the Petrovich dynasty. He is responsible for strengthening the state of Montenegro by uniting the many tribes of Montenegro. He increased the territory of Montenegro, and introduced the first written law to Montenegro.
After he became a bishop, he traveled to Russia in 1785. While he was there, Montenegro was overtaken by the Ottoman Turks. When he return, he led an army of 6,000 Montenegrins and defeated an army of over 30,000 Turks.
