Grace Franklin Williams

This is my Mama Grace. After 97 years on this earth, she crossed over to a better place last night. For the last 15 years she suffered from Alzheimer's Disease. This was one of the last times that I saw her, and though she did not know me, she was happy that we were visiting and taking pictures.

I remember many happy summers and holidays at her home--learning to make biscuits, frying chicken, drinking coffee, working in the garden, eating as much ice cream as a little girl could eat, Easter egg hunts, long walks in the woods and stories from my mother's childhood. When my father was ill, she and my grandpa came over several times a week to help. She cooked for us our favorites: fried chicken, gravy, creamed corn, biscuits and coleslaw. We never tired of it.

Thank you, Lord, for the example of my grandmother -- a loving mother, friend, grandmother, and wife.
