Adoption and Status ????

This is from Chris -- he usually lets me do the writing, but he pretty much summed up our lives in the following couple of paragraphs.

It has been a diffibult week for the Willeke family. Receiving the news that we will not be able to adopt the children, and at the same time learning that the FSB (formerly known as the KGB) will not allow you to continue to live in the country that we have grown to love and serve is indeed rather shattering news. It would be like someone calling you into the office to inform you that you being moved out of the city you call home, even the country in which you have invested time and energy to learn the language, customs, and culture. "And another thing," they add, "your kids won't be coming with you. You won't be able to contact them, and they're too young to remember you, so, there'll be no further relationship with them." That's pretty much what happened last week to Jill and me. They all but ripped out our hearts and stomped them on the floor. The judge seemed to indicate that it was sad that it had to be this way, but didn't see any alternative.

On Monday, I will go to talk to the person who is at the center of the adoption problem to see if there is any way of finding a solution. It will most certianly take a miracle should we get to adopt these children at this point. The question must be asked, however, is this what God wants for us? We have always believed it to be so, but now, we are certainly confused as to what the next step is; and honestly, quite weary from the very long process (4 years to the month).

As for the FSB, they have stated the reason "in extremely vague terms" as to why we must leave, and so we will be working on that during this month. This too will require a miracle to stay in Russia and continue the work that God laid upon our hearts to do. Here agian we must ask the question, what is God's plans for the near future regarding us? Perhaps this too, is a way that God is using to move us in new directions I must admit, it is most painful.

That is why I am so grateful for the prayers and support of all my firneds. And I am grateful to God my Father, Who loves me and has a great plan. I trust in Him fully, and I am confident of this, He who has begun a good work in us will be faithful to complete it until the day of Christ's return.
